7.28.12 – 7.31.12
I spent the weekend at a cottage in Montreal with my family. It would have been my Grandma’s 75th birthday, so we wanted to celebrate her inspiring life together. I could never express how truly amazing she was, and how much she has effected my every day life. I miss her with all that I have, and know that she is up there keeping an eye one me.
The lake was absolutely stunning, and we spent most of the days there just being a part of it. We played volleyball, grilled burgers, and went on the party island floaty. But most importantly, we laughed together and cried together.
We wrote messages for my Grandma, folded them up, and put them into balloons. We let them go and stood outside as we watched them rise up to heaven for her to read.
We visited the cemetery, where I broke down for the first time in a while.
She was the most beautiful woman in the world and had the happiest spirit… standing there in front of her name etched on the gravestone just didn’t seem right. But, I know that she lives on through the beautiful little reminders that she places in my life so unexpectedly – the little warm messages and surprises that she sends me to make me smile.
I also got to spend a little bit of time visiting with my Grandpa. We didn’t get to stay too long, but I was able to hug him and be in that house again. The house that holds a million of the memories that I have with my Grandma.
Happy Birthday Grandma.
I wish that you were here to help sing with me.
